Scott Andrews For New Bern Mayor

Plain and simple, I'm running for Mayor because I love this town.  This town has shaped me into the person I am today, and by "this town", I mean THE PEOPLE that I am lucky enough to call neighbors.  I couldn't imagine growing up in any other city, and I want to do everything I can to protect it and move it forward.  In order to do that, we all have to work together because Teamwork truly does make the Dream Work.

I’m coming at this election from a place I know well, and that’s from the perspective of a Coach, which I feel like many of you can relate to, regardless of whether you were the coach, or the player being coached. 

I grew up playing sports, and one of the most amazing coaches I had the pleasure to play for was Gary Smith, who is the winningest coach in New Bern High School baseball history, and for good reason. He knew that every player has to be coached differently. Every great team is made up of people with different talents, skills, and personalities.  Everybody has a different story, a different background, and a different lens that they see life through, and that’s the same for the Board of Aldermen, it's the same for the people who make up each Ward and it's the same for the town of New Bern as a whole.  People may not see eye to eye on certain things, but that doesn't mean we can't work together to fix problems and work through solutions TOGETHER.

As the Mayor of New Bern it will be my job to get everyone to work together so that WE can win for the TEAM and the TEAM is the ENTIRE City of New Bern.

I have two really expensive pieces of paper on my wall from NC State. One is my diploma for Communication and the other is a certificate for my Coaching Education minor. I’m prouder of the Coaching Education minor, and my goal as Mayor is to help facilitate and Coach the flow of Communication and strengthen the Connection between everyone. Connecting people with their Aldermen. Connecting Aldermen with fellow Aldermen. Connecting the community with itself. That’s how we can connect problems with solutions. So that’s my platform, as the Mayor of New Bern, North Carolina, I want to focus on the Three C’s: Coaching, Communication, and Connection.

I have a passion for Coaching. I have a natural ability to Communicate. More than anything, I want to Connect people so that we can all work together. My HEART is here, with this entire town and everyone in it. I want to grow New Bern forward, but I don’t want to leave anybody behind.
